Timing belt or timing chain?
The mainstream engines in this line use a timing chain. A chain is generally designed to last the service life of the engine, which is why chain engines usually carry no timing entry on the maintenance schedule at all. What to know about this model line
Offered with a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated four cylinder as the volume engine, a 3.5 liter naturally aspirated V6 on upper trims, and a four cylinder hybrid, depending on year and trim. Non hybrid cars use a conventional stepped automatic, with a higher gear count after the 2018 redesign than before it. Hybrids use an electronically controlled planetary hybrid transaxle, which Toyota markets as an ECVT and which is mechanically unlike a belt and pulley CVT. Front wheel drive is the default, with all wheel drive offered on four cylinder cars from roughly the 2020 model year.
